I do not trust only the star rating, I like to see detailed photos and longer comments. Loose hinges make the glasses slide down the nose again and again. I think this is one of the few real advantages we have compared to shopping blindly. Sometimes I experiment with different materials just to see how they feel in daily life. In the past I have wasted money on items that looked good in photos but felt cheap in real life.

Footwear is even harder because different brands cut shoes very differently. Sometimes I still make mistakes with size, so a friendly exchange policy is very helpful. It makes it easier to compare with an old pair of glasses that already fits well. If a website gives a detailed guide for measurements, I feel more confident when ordering. Some care only about style, others focus on comfort and durability.
